Tim Vanderhook CEO
Tim Vanderhook

As the President and CEO of Viant, Tim sets and drives the overall direction and business strategy for the company and each of its brands.

In 1999, Tim, along with brothers Chris and Russ identified the high growth potential of digital advertising and founded the interactive advertising platform Specific Media during those early stages of internet advertising. Tim’s vision led the development of behavioral targeting technology that created ground-breaking interest-based digital advertising practices. He led the company’s evolution from a small family business to an industry-leading multinational corporation.

Chris Vanderhook

Chris Vanderhook directs all aspects of Viant’s business operations, managing the organization’s executive team, overseeing sales and media operations. His leadership spans across Viant and its family of brands which include Adelphic, Myspace and Xumo.

Since co-founding Specific Media in July 1999 with his brothers, Tim and Russ, Chris has driven consistent financial growth and profitability throughout the company’s 15-year history. Under Chris’ leadership, the company grew into an industry-leading multinational corporation with operations in eight countries and counting.

Prior to Viant, Chris was a personal banker specializing in small business financing at Bank of America. He became a top ranked associate both regionally and nationally for his outstanding achievement in the procurement of new business finance clientele.

Chris received a BS degree in Business Administration at the Marshall School of Business from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California.

Russ Vanderhook SVP
Russ Vanderhook

As co-founder and Senior Vice President of Viant, Russ is responsible for driving the overall operations of the family of technology brands which include Adelphic, Myspace and Xumo. Russ’ focus is on helping advertisers drive more leads and revenue through highly-targeted advertising. He guides the strategic direction of the company as it expands into new global markets, to serve the world’s top advertisers. As a co-founder of the original Specific Media brand, Russ has been integral in making strategic growth and financial decisions since the company’s inception.

Previously, Russ was the Chief Operating Officer of AdvertisementBanners.com, where he was responsible for day-to-day operations.

Jon Schulz CMO
Jon Schulz

As Chief Marketing Officer at Viant, a Meredith company, Jon is a member of the executive leadership team and heads brand and product marketing, communications, strategic partnerships, research and creative services. Jon is a recognized industry thought leader in automotive marketing, digital advertising and advanced analytics.

During his tenure as CMO, Jon has led a comprehensive company rebranding and repositioning initiative and launched the Viant Advertising Cloud platform to the market. As the lead marketer within a company focused on leveraging big data and analytics to drive efficient media spend, Jon oversees numerous research initiatives designed to provide actionable data to brand marketers using insights from Viant’s people-based platform.

Jon joined Viant in 2008 as Senior Vice President, Global Category Development, and was responsible for growing revenue in the automotive category by over 40 percent in his first year. During a period of rapid growth and multiple acquisitions, he led business development and strategic partnerships across the global enterprise. Prior to joining Viant, Jon was a catalyst in the digitally-driven transition of U.S. brand marketing and advertising at Ford Motor Company, where he was Head of Digital Marketing and CRM.

Jon is a regular speaker and panelist at ad tech industry events and lectures at the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business. He writes frequently on the topics of marketing and digital advertising and has been cited in publications including Marketing Land, Mediapost, and MartechAdvisor.

Jon has an MBA in Marketing from Indiana University, Kelley School of Business and a BS in Management Information Systems from Central Michigan University.

Larry Madden CFO
Larry Madden

As Chief Financial Officer, Larry Madden manages the finance, accounting and tax activities. He has over 28 years of experience in fast-moving, growth-oriented companies, having worked with some of the most successful entrepreneurs in the media and entertainment industries.

Most recently, he worked with Robert Sillerman and Simon Fuller as CFO in helping build and transform the related businesses of 19 Entertainment, XIX Entertainment and SFX Entertainment. He has also served in a range of executive and C-level financial positions with top media companies in the public and private sector including the Weinstein Company, where he was instrumental in helping the company raise nearly $2 billion of capital.

Larry received a BS in Accounting from State University of New York-Albany and an MBA in Finance, Strategic Management and International Business from New York University.

Fabrizio Blanco CTO
Fabrizio Blanco

Fabrizio is responsible for Viant’s global technology vision and roadmap worldwide. He leads a team of technologists, computer scientists, product experts, and developers to run the most robust and effective digital advertising technology platform in the industry.

Previously, Fabrizio was Senior Vice President of Engineering and Chief Architect of the Fox Audience Network (FAN), News Corp.’s online advertising unit and the primary monetization arm of Myspace. At FAN, Fabrizio architected and built the world’s largest display ad serving and optimization technology, serving over 7 billion impressions a day across 2,000 publishers. Fabrizio came to FAN when News Corp. acquired Strategic Data Corp (SDC), where he served as Chief Technology Officer.

Fabrizio also held various consulting roles for several Fortune 500 companies. He co-authored several pending patents, including Real Time Bidding (RTB) with Jason Knapp in 2006, which they launched into production at FAN in 2007.

Fabrizio holds a BS and MS degree in Computer Science from University of Catania, Italy.

Linh Chung CIO
Linh Chung

As Chief Information Officer for Viant, Linh oversees all technology initiatives across the company to ensure security, data protection and on-going connectivity for all Viant properties, clients and platforms.

Linh took the helm as CIO after seven years as senior vice president of technical operations at Myspace. While in that role, he oversaw a production infrastructure of over 12,000 servers at the largest social network of its time.

Prior to joining Myspace in 2007, Linh served in a variety of engineering and technical management roles. Most recently, Linh was the senior manager of Standard Chartered Bank, a technical director of Cable & Wireless and an advisory software engineer at Candle Corporation.

Linh graduated from the University of Manitoba with a BS in Computer Engineering, and resides in the Los Angeles area.

Specific Media launches Householding worldwide, the first true cross-device targeting solution for advertisers

2013

Vindico announces Adtricity, the industry’s most comprehensive ad viewability & verification solution

2015

IMH rebrands as Viant and launches the Viant Advertising Cloud

2016

Viant is acquired by Time Inc., creating a game-changing combination of first-party data, premium content and advertising technology

2017

Viant acquires Adelphic, forming the industry’s first self-service people-based DSP.

2018

Meredith Corporation acquires Time Inc. and all its subsidiary companies, including Viant, creating a cross channel ecosystem of nearly 200 million monthly unduplicated American consumers

2019

Viant's co-founders complete a company buyout, taking back control of the ad tech company from Meredith Corporation
