Chris Vanderhook
Chief Operating Officer, Co-Founder
Chris Vanderhook is Co-Founder, Chief Operating Officer, and Board Member of Viant Technology (NASDAQ: DSP), the AI-powered programmatic advertising platform he co-founded with his brother Tim Vanderhook and took public in 2021.
As COO, Chris oversees Viant’s Sales, Marketing, Partnerships, Ad Operations, and Customer Support. He has been the driving architectural force behind Viant’s evolution into a CTV powerhouse and AI-first platform, building the technological foundation that has made Viant one of the most sophisticated and outcomes-driven buying platforms in the industry.
Chris spearheaded Viant’s early and decisive move into Connected TV at a time when most of the industry was still debating its viability — a bet that has proven transformational. He has championed the development of Viant’s Direct Access supply path optimization program and proprietary Intelligence Layer, including the Viant Household ID, the IRIS_ID and supply quality model. Under his leadership, Viant has major industry growth behind CTV and AI innovation, earning widespread industry recognition for advancing advertiser outcomes and programmatic excellence.
For more than two decades, Chris has steered Viant’s mission of automating the planning, buying, and measurement of advertising across the open internet, translating bold ideas into the technology infrastructure that powers real advertiser outcomes. In addition to Viant, Chris co-founded XUMO in 2011, one of the largest ad-supported streaming services in the country, which was acquired by Comcast in 2020.
Chris holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California. He resides in Orange County, California with his wife Heather and their four children.
